I have a annual multi entry visa and my next 90 day period is 27th August and my flight is September 1st what advice can you give to avoid having a overstay on my passport. Is it possible to go to the police in surin to advise i may overstay by 4 days

I am based in surin

Does anyone know if the border at kap choeng has been closed as this is the nearest border point,if this is closed what is the nearest border point

With an outbound ticket you may be able to get a 7 day extension from immigration, cost 1900Baht.

Otherwise, a border run before your stay expires, or simply pay the 2000Baht fine and get the overstay stamp.

The 7 day extension is the best and safest way to go.

Just to clear up a few points.

The police in Surin will not deal with immigration matters.

The border with Cambodia is at Chong Chom. I am not aware that it's been closed but I could be wrong.

Obtain an extension at Kab Cheong Immigration Office (tel: 044 55 91 66), which is approximately 20 kilometres north of the border on the 214. They are generally very helpful.

Just to confirm that the border was definitely open on Wednesday 30th July 2008 (sorry, i forgot to post it yesterday).
