Hello all,i'm currently doing abit of travelling in los,but also hoping to get a used laptop shipped over from the uk,which also has a faulty touch pad.

Is shipping to a PO box reliable,& what will it cost for just using it for the laptop,& how long can they hold on to it if i want to pick it up after about a week?

Also what sort of duty will/should i by hit with.I read in one of Reimar's posts elsewhere that 1%+7% vat is the norm,but how do i stand with this used laptop?

You are talking about shipping a broken laptop here and paying import tax on it. Why bother?

Get yourself to one of many "IT malls" and buy a cheap laptop.

If there is some particular data that you need off that machine in UK, there are better methods for getting that data than shipping the entire box.

There is no guarantee of safe handling, so it may arrive more damaged than it was before.
