The British passport was issued when she was 1 year old. It lasts for 5 years. The photo is thus of a 1 year old.

Will the British immigration authorities accept the passport as her appearance has now markedly changed over the 3 intervening years. If not, what should my friend do?

Perhaps this question should be raised on !st of April rather than 1st of August!

I am sure that all children change dramatically each year from birth, particularly between the age of 1 to 5 and if it was going to be a problem then they would issue an annual ather than a 5 year passport.

The passport will be accepted by the UK Authorities, unless ofcourse there was something out of the ordinary such as travellng with someone who is not one of the parents.

But I am sure you knew that already.

I’m no authority on this subject but I would imagine common sense would prevail. The immigration people must be aware that a child’s appearance changes over the time period.

Perhaps that is why they only issue a 5 year to a child instead of the normal 10.

If they're concerned about the acceptability of the passport because of the change in appearance, they can simply apply for new passport.
