On July 8th my TV signal was interrupted by a message from true indicating they were stopping service for failure to pay bill. I called true and was told they had not received payment even though I had a receipt from my bank showing the bill paid. I callede true back and gave them information concerning my account and the amount of payment on 8 July. On July 11th my service was stopped and I again called True asking what was going on. They again stated I had not paid the bill and I needed to give them time to track the payment. I gave them (again) the account paid from and account paid to. Late evening that day my signal was turned on, and I found that my bank account had been debited for over 18,000 Baht to True. Since that time I have made phome inquiries, emails and two trips to True on Silom road. As of this date I am still out 18,000 Baht. QUESTION: ANY one know of a customer service within True or some other entity I can go to for help?

Thanks, Mike

Sounds like you need to go back to the office with a native Thai speaker who understands the situation (leave the pidgin English farm girls at home for this one). Don't leave until you get the situation resolved to your satisfaction.

Agreed.

re. "Direct Debits" - I have none set up and never will. I do not trust any organisation to act professionally here. Paying at 7/11's is fine by me.

Yes if you can get this sorted out start paying at 7-11. Seems like you have already been calling customer service on the phone. The number takes you to their customer service. As for visits to their office, just keep asking to see customer service until it's resolved. Go there every day or every other day so they take notice instead of just ignoring it. That's amazing that they took so much money. Pathetic.

Edit: What's the office on Silom rd.? Just a branch for Truevisions? It seems they main headquarters of the whole corporation is a big tower on Ratchadapisek Rd. You can't miss it if you're near Fortune. True Tower.

Agree, would never set up a direct debit here, your story just confirms and proves why. The slight inconvenience of paying a bill far outweighs the utter horror of knowing a company here has access to my bank account.

Thats the smartest option! :o

But if you really really need to pay by DD have an account with only small amounts in it, topped up automatically each month from your main account. You just set it up as a regular transfer from one account to the other. Plus any Debit or credit cards are linked to the small amount a/c.

That way a large bill demand will be rejected. Unlike a cheque bouncing there is generally no charge. :D

That sounds a good idea. It wasn't so long ago I got a water bill for over 16,000 baht! :D The meter reader thought the first digit was a "1", when it was in fact a "0". So he printed out the ticket which said I'd used one million thirty thousand litres, instead of thirty thousand, and the bill came to 16,000 baht! :D

I tried to explain to the "jobs-worth" on the desk at the water company that 1,030,000 litres of water is quite a lot and is about 1,000,000 litres more than I usually use, so maybe the guy misread the meter?

"Maybe your pipe broken" was her constructive reply. "Yes, I don't suppose I'd notice a few swimming pools worth of water gushing out of my pipe, would I?" Sarcasm didn't seem to work with her. :D

I got it sorted out eventually, but I do think that if I'd had a direct debit set up, I'd still be 15,700 baht out of pocket today. :o
