BOMB FOUND NEAR RAILWAY TRACK

A man found a useable bottle-shape bomb near the railway, police assumed it was produced in Indochina wartime. The bomb squad checked and destroyed the bomb.

On August 8th, 2008, at 00.30, Pol.Lt.Col.Samrit Khunchit, deputy superintendent, Banglamung, Chonburi, was informed that a man from a community near railway tracks behind Soi Wat Thamasamakkee, Moo 13, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi, had found a usable war bomb from the stream in the community. Police rushed to investigate.

Arriving at the scene, many people were waiting for the authority frighteningly. Mr.Kunakorn Lorbkorb, (43), from Chonburi, took the authority to inspect the bomb which he had placed it in the woods away from the house and covered with a car tire. The bottle shape bomb was 50-cm. high, weight 1 kilogram. Officials assumed that the bomb could be produced in Indochina wartime and apparently it was still usable. The officials told the people to move away from the area and immediately cooperated with bomb experts from Nawamintarachinee military camp, Chonburi, to take the bomb away and destroyed it.

Mr. Kunakorn told police that in the evening of August 7th, while he was walking out in order to release the collecting water on the non-asphalt road, which was leading to his house due to the heavy rain, he found the bomb was flowing in the muddy water stream. He then picked it up as he thought it was just a bottle but it was very heavy.

After having discussion with his neighbors, they all agreed that it was the bomb that had been buried around there for a long time and was still usable. He managed to move the bomb and put it in the woods, far away from his house and covered it with car tire and informed the police.

Bet those bomb squad guys aren't around very long. But then the training is not to intense, poke it with a stick and pick it up and throw.

1a. Move local population to a safe viewing distance, about 10 meters.

1b. Press and TV crew must be closer to capture face of heroic bomb tech.

2a. Poke it with a stick while smiling.

One of two things will happen:

1. A witty comment by the voice over when the TV company play your staring role on the news that night.

2. A small hole will be created for your bodily fluids to drain into.
