Extension Of 30 Day Visa

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have done a search but cant find anything on this subject.

Is it possible to extend a 30 day exemption visa within Thailand. If this is possible for how many days can it be extended and how would one go about doing this.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers, Rick

You can get a 1 time 7 day extension from your local immigration - costs 1,800 baht I believe. Same price to do a border run if you still have sufficient days left. Also note that the 7 days will count towards your 90 in 180, so you won't get it if you've used all your visa exempt days.

Go to Immigration. You will need to show a flight ticket out of Thailand within the 7 days. And a passport size photo.

Cost 1,900 Baht.

Not quite Litebeer, I needed an extension on my non-O last year and could only get 7 days. The 30 day extension on a tourist visa is unique to that type of visa. They used to give 30 days on any 'proper' visa until about 2 1/2 years ago when it was reduced to 15, then to 7.

Thanks for the further explanation sweet chariot. Thats maybe where i got the 15 days from. Old legislation.

I have a 2 x 60 day tourist visa. Can I get the 30 day extension twice, or only at the end of the second 60 day period?

Have a nice day!

Yes, but be careful that your second Thai border entry is still done in advance of the 'Enter Before' date on your tourist visa.
