1 Year Extension Of Stay Due To Kids

Featured Replies

Some information for others either in or potentially in my position.

Having sued my wife for divorce through the courts, I am finally happily single again and was granted full and sole custody of my 3 kids.

As my extension of stay has been granted on the ground of having a Thai wife for the past few years, I took the divorce certificate and court order down to immigration in Pattaya to ask them for guidance. I was informed that as the court has given me custody, I will be granted an extension of stay on the grounds of having Thai kids.

I was told that this is a bit longer process and will need up to 4 months to be approved but will not be a problem and to apply early.

Contrary to what has been published it looks as if this avenue is still open as long as you have legal custody.

That's correct, providing you have custody of the children and your wife's rights to the children are thus waived.
