This is just an FYI for anyone wanting current info on docs required for a "retirement" visa extension (non-imm O visa class) for the Pattaya/Jomtien immigration office. I did a renewal today (Friday 29 Sep.) and was in and out in 20 minutes! In fact, I was called to the desk so quickly after taking a number that I didn't even have time to complete the application form :D

Senior Sergent Somchai who does the initial intake (that's his actual name) is always pleasant enough (considering he has not had a promotion in 5 years...same desk year after year). Looked over my docs, took my money, and passed me over to the lady behind him (a captian I believe). She looked over everything, highlighted this and that, filled out another form to sign, and said see you Monday morning for passport pick-up. All efficient and fast! :o

So, current docs required (for extension based on monthly income/pension):

Passport

Passport 1 Copy (1) Face Page, (2) Visa Page, (3) Prior 1-year Extension Page, (4) TM Card

Application

B 1900

1 Passport Size Photo

Embassy Letter Re Income/Pension (No need for Thai certification) *

Bank Letter/Certification of Account Balance Amount (This should be dated the day or maybe 1 day prior to making application)**

Bank Book

Bank Book Copy (1) Name Page/Account Number, (2) Last Page Showing Current Balance (Best to update book morning of making application.)

Sign and date all copies.

* The embassy letter I used today was dated 1995. In prior years, they collected a copy and let me keep the original for the succeding year. I had asked about a week ago if the letter would be good for this year's renewal and they said yes. However, this year they did keep the original so I got 3 years use of the letter and next year, will make the trip to Bangkok for another original, which hopefully will be good for another 2 years after that.

** This is not to show B 800,000 in the bank but just to show the current balance. I also highlight the most recent 2-3 monthly pension transfers into the account (on the copies).
