My friend has a Multiple entry non-Im B visa, which expires in December. He is returning to England in October for a 2 week holiday and his agency have told him that because of this, his visa will be canceled and therefore he will need to buy a new Non-Im B while he is in England.

Is this correct?

He has been waiting for his work permit and his year extension to be processed for 2 months now and his agency have said that this will not be concluded before he returns to England (3 months in total!). They have said that this is because they are waiting for a letter from the teacher’s council of Thailand etc.

Isn’t the point of a multiple entry, that you GET multiple entries, regardless of whether you are going to Malaysia or England? Any help on this will be great before he shells out another 100pound for a non-im B.

Yes, if he's still on a multiple entry and not extension of stay then if he enters anytime before the expiration date, he still gets 3 months. The question is, is he really still on his multiple entry valid until December or extension of stay? And yes, multiple entries gives you as many entries as you can use up in the time allotted.

His current status is not clear. Is he here on a 90 day visa entry or has he really applied for extension of stay (and thus on a 30 day extension each month)?

It appear he is on 90 day visa entry and if visa will still be valid on return he can obtain another 90 day stay then.

If they are telling him he needs to obtain a new multi entry visa would seriously question if they will ever provide a work permit or extension of stay. Sounds like they are using him and never intend to provide paperwork.

Thanks Jimjim.

This is his first non-Imm B he got it in england in December 2007, he has been going to Malaysia every 90 days, just go out and comes back in. He has been here since December and he is leaving for the first time in October for 2 weeks will be back Oct 21st. The expiration on his non imm B is Nov 29th.

he paid 100pounds for his mulitiple non-imm B in England which is for a year of multiple entries. He does not have his work permit yet, so there has been no attempt for his one year visa extension.

His existing visa is valid for entry until the Enter Before Date on the paper visa/visa stamp in his passport. When he enters Thailand in this way he will get another 90 day entry stamp. However once he is past the Enter Before Date he cannot get any more 90 day stamps.

It is near impossible to get a one year multiple entry non B in countries adjoining Thailand, without a valid work permit and the correct paper work. So your friend might find it easier to get a 1 year non B from Hull (requiring just an invitation letter), which is good for 15 months of entry/stay with border runs every 90 days.

If he is confident of the work permit and a subsequent extension of stay, then there is no need to get a new visa in the uk.
