Crime Brother Shoots Sibling & Nephew, Then Takes Own Life
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A violent family dispute over a shared rental business has claimed two lives and left one critically injured in Nakhon Pathom province. At 16:30 on 11 August, police were called to a residence on Phai Toei Tai Road, Moo 5, Huai Chorakhe subdistrict, Mueang district, where a shooting had occurred. Officers, including Police Superintendent Achirawat Thawornjaroenwat, investigators, rescue workers and forensic teams, promptly arrived at the two-storey house situated on over one rai of land. Inside, they found the body of Mr. Somsak 70, who had died from a single gunshot wound to the right temple. A 9mm handgun was recovered nearby. Outside the house, two victims were found seriously injured: Mr. Somchai, 63 and Mr. Somyos, 20. Both were rushed to Nakhon Pathom Hospital, but Mr. Somyos later succumbed to his injuries. Investigations revealed that the shooter, Mr. Somsak and one of the victims, Mr. Somchai, were brothers. The younger victim, Mr. Somyos, was Mr. Somchai’s son. The family had long-standing disputes over their shared rental property business and assets. Prior to the shooting, there had been ongoing arguments and threats between the parties involved. On the day of the incident, Mr. Somsak reportedly arrived carrying a firearm concealed in a bag. Upon confronting Mr. Somchai and Mr. Somyos seated outside the house, a verbal altercation ensued, escalating to gunfire that wounded both men. Following the shootings, Mr. Somsak returned inside the house and fatally shot himself with the same weapon.
