Thai party 'drops Samak for PM

Thailand's ruling party has dropped ousted PM Samak Sundaravej as its nominee for the job, say party sources.

The decision marks an apparent U-turn by the People's Power Party (PPP), which earlier seemed determined to re-nominate him to the post.

Protesters have been demanding for weeks that Mr Samak should resign.

The apparent confirmation that he is no longer in contention for the post may pave the way for a settlement of the political crisis, analysts say.

Now, do we see PAD pull out of government house or do they ramp up their demands?

So, Samak won't be going to the UN on 23rd September?

So, he'll be able to attend his court hearing on the 25th?

So, he'll be off to the monkey house when his conviction for defamation is confirmed?

Or maybe not!

Ah well, if it comes to the crunch I'm sure that he will be able to improve on the cuilinary standards at the Bangkok Hilton!

Yes, it's time for Mr. Samak to join the Big Boss in the Arm chair or the Rocking Chair in Mr Samak's case. Set on the sideline and enjoy the action like the rest of us, rest assure there is still plenty of action to be table without you. out Pa Pa. have a cup of

Where is there any report that Samak has given up? All the reports I saw were that the vote has been postponed (probably while he gives them a good thrashing to tow the line).
