How Easy/difficult Is It To Find A Job In A Hotel In Th?

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know how difficult/easy it is to find a management position in a hotel in Thailand?

To myself:

I'm European, married to Thai citizen, and educated to MBA level.

I have five years of supervisory experience in the hotel industry (not senior managerial though).

Thanks a lot for replying.

Regards…

I only know of one farang who was given a chance to work by one of the

major hotels in Bangkok - but he was fluent in Thai. Without at

least that skill, I cannot see what benefits you could offer them that a University

educated Thai person couldnt also do the same maybe even better ?

There are plenty of farang working in the Thai hotel industry, but most are recruited outside Thailand for senior positions, and many have been around a long time. Thais are good at the service business, cheaper than farang, and don't need work permits.

This is one area where there are available jobs for foreigners, in fact if you check the bangkok post website frequently you will see a lot of roles open to foreign nationals. They tend to be either F&B / DoS roles and occasionally a General Manager role.

On Jobsdb you will find a general manager position at The Tongsai Bay Cottages & Hotel, and a General Manager position at Absolute Hotel Services both open to Foreigners.

IN terms of Recruitment Companies that specialise in this area, try TMS Asia Pacific (www.tmsap.com) but you will need to be quite senior

Good Luck
