I have several tapes of video I have taken while in Thailand with my wife over the years and its all jumbled up and forgotten.

Its about time I transferred this to hard drive (best way? its 'mini video tapes cassettes, those little ones!)

So what video editing software is easiest to use so I can chop out the shaky stuff (probably the stuff I took) add music and titles etc and eventually burn onto DVD.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks!

Getting your tapes digitized and into the computer varies depending on the current media they're recorded on and the capabilities of your video camera. Some cameras are "PC / Mac ready" with a firewire or USB 2.0 connection and lend themselves easily to transferring video to a hard drive. Your description, "...mini video tapes cassettes, those little ones!" is a bit vague but I think you must be referencing the Mini DV Digital Video Cassette system. If so, your camera probably supports direct transfer to a computer. Check your camera's manual.

As for the editing part: I edited my video tapes with Pinnacle Studio (version 9) a few years ago. I played with Adobe Premier but found the learning curve too steep. Pinnacle Studio seemed more intuitive to me and I am really pleased (impressed might be a better description) with the results.
