Hi.

Is anyone else experience a total crawl on the internet today? I can open most sites (such as ThaiVisa, Google, G-Mail etc) only by hitting "try again" a dozen or more times, the error is always "The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection".

Other sites, such as Hotmail/MSN, work fine and fast.

This happens at work (Windows XP, Firefox 3) as well as at home (Linux, Firefox 3), both on TRUE connections (but far apart, work = Lad Phrao, home = Bangna).

Best regards....

Hi :o

Well i'm in Thailand since close to 8 years already...... and normally (!) TRUE works fine at my place at least, as my apartment is only about 25 meters beside the main exchange so the actual wire between me and that exchange is short and quite new. Which is also why i rather always get the advertised speeds on my connection.

I have since figured out that, when i use Asianet's proxy (not an illegal one but the one that TRUE themselves sometimes recommend to use!) it appears working, so the problem is clearly on TRUE's side.

Here's how to use it (Firefox):

Go to Tools -> Options -> "Advanced" tab -> Configure how Firefox connects to the Internet -> Settings

Select "Manual proxy configuration" and enter "proxy.asianet.co.th", port: 8080.

Check "Use this proxy server for all protocols"

OK, OK, done :D

Best regards.....

Mine has been at a crawl ever since this morning :o

It is faster than before when using the Asia Net thing, but I still can't get into the Box, and it I know that this is a local network problem, as I have accessed it today at both my universities.

Dear Thanh

Is it worthwhile to add this proxy on a router (for 2-3 users max) ? True's billing speed is 2.5Mbps.

Or you feel its not advisable ?

Thanks for your advice

Hi :o

Nah i wouldn't advise that.... for it's a lot more work to change it back and forth in the router. I would just enter it once in Firefox (or IE or whichever browser you use) and when the problem comes up, just activate it. Because when the "pipes are clear", i.e. TRUE works as it should, using that proxy is slower than not using it.

I can confirm the above. My connection was as slow as hel_l last week so i called True and that's what they told me to do over the phone.

I think there was something else they said to do but can't remember exactly what it was now.

Call True and they will tell you to change some configurations in Internet Options.

Interesting. I reported the same problem to TOT today, and they said I should bring my modem in to be serviced! I have tried the above, but maybe it only works for True (or I screwed up someplace) as I couldn't access anything.
