Hello,

We are thinking of going back to UK and would like to ship our household goods back to UK. This being bed, wardrobe, sofa, TV, etc. I am not sure what size container we will need so ideally we would like someone to come to our house and take a look and quote us a price.

We are in Chiang Mai.

Anyone have any suggestions as to a good shipping company to use?

Thanks

20ft container (big enough??) - will cost you around Baht 48K - 57K - you can put a lone loaf of bread in the container or stuff it floor to ceiling with iron blocks - cost "same same"! (its a set volume based cost) - and other than for the actual packing of the container makes little diff who moves it around - they all get handled much the same (pretty roughly!!) - so wrap things up well and if you have lots of space left, advertise the space to as many ex-pats as you can in Thailand - sell the remaining space to anyone wanting to end stuff to the UK.

Hi there,

I am in shock! I have just had a quote for a shipment from Chiang Mai to UK and it is the following:

Household goods (11 cbm) - 154,570THB + 10,819THB = 165,389 THB !!!!! And this doesn't include customs duties and taxes.

And my husband will have to do without a motorbike as this alone cost another 65,000 THB.

Maizefarmer - where and when did you get the price quote from? I thought it would be near to that too as I have heard a few people saying this.

Has anybody recently moved things to UK - so has anybody got any approx. prices and if so, which shipment company did you use? Is this price totally unrealistic?

Please help!

Although my recent experience (last week!) was t'other way round (UK to Chiang Mai) I cannot praise Asian Tigers Thailand/Transpo highly enough!

A box of household effects, low monetary but high 'personal' value, just under 3 cu meters, cost under 90,000b inc packing, taxes etc.

Tracked all the way with frequent e-mail and phone updates, and delivery to the door by a huge truck direct from Bkk docks staffed by a team of 4 led by a 5th man with almost fluent English. Khun Preeya in their Bangkok HQ is fluent - and is wonderful.

I have no connection other than as a Very satisfied client.
