Lpg - Flashlube Additive To Avoid Valve Seat Recession (vsr)

I've been running a Land Rover Discovery with a 2JZ engine with LPG these past 2 1/2 years and haven't looked back since, saved a small fortune. However, i read about this flashlube additive, see below to avoid valve recession. Anyone here in Thailand heard about it, and if so where can you buy it.

Also, i'm considering putting a Fortuner 2.7 VVTI (2TR-FE) engine in my Sport Rider and convert to LPG; any thoughts on this engine?

I'm amazed they didn't put it in!

I have done 3 conversions and all three have the oil injector installed.

One one installation it's exactly the same as in your picture, only I don't use the flash oil (probably very expensive) but good quality 2 stroke oil.

2 stroke oil is actually developed to lubricate engine internals and then gets combusted in the cylinder. The valve saver injects a much lower amount (about 0.5 to 1 liter per 150 liters of LPG) then what a 2stroke engine would need so very little environmental repercussions.

Hello Monty,

I'm going to see my mechanic tomorrow for a general service. Could you tell me where i can buy the bottle kit from?

If your LPG installer does not have them, you could try http:/www.ps-pornsak.com on On Nut Road, they install the kit on all cars, so they might have some spare in stock. Visit their website to grab the phone number and call them...

The units are 900 Baht or 1500 with Flashlube. Available at any LPG conversion place and they will install it usually for the same price.

Flashlube is a lead replacement additive so of questionable use as all engines are now designed to run on unleaded fuel. There are lots of "snake" oils out there. Every LPG station has one kind or another. The jury is still out on whether one actually needs any extra lubrication. It depends on what website one visits, both commercial and academic. Also there are lots of myths, especially here. You know like the one about mobile phones causing lightning strikes.

Bangkok taxi drivers all use two stroke oil. It however is thicker than Flashlube so there is some tinkering to do to get the flow rate correct., it is however easy to find. I use diesel fuel in my oil "injector" as it is also a lubricant and is approx the same viscosity as Flash lube, it cheap but not as convenient. My rationale being that the vehicle already has the bottle so...
