Hi All

This is probably an easy one but I'm pretty crap at excel so can't figure it out.

I work on a four days on and four days off working rota and I want to pull up some kind of calendar for the remainder of this year and for next year also. I would like to be able to colour the days that I am working in a 'pretty' colour so that I can tell at a glance what days I will be working for ease of booking holidays, making arrangements etc.......I think you get the idea.

Anyway I am crap at Excel and need some help as I am at a loss as how to do this.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks....slippery

Highlight the cells you want colour coded, right click and choose "Format Cells". In the dialouge box that opens, click on the "Patterns" tab. Have fun.

I imagine you have Outlook since you have Excel, if you open your calendar and add 4 reoccurring events (1 for each work day) and repeat them every 7 days. You can put your other holidays, arrangements, etc on there too.

If you want to stick with excel there is an icon on the toolbar at the top that looks like a paint bucket pouring out (it's "fill") hit that and it'll color your selected cells. You'll end up going batshit crazy if you do it for a whole year though. As a minimum set up a hot key to do it for you, and if you want to go full out record a macro to take care of it.

You can easily stick a calendar control (Insert | Object) but it doesn't allow you to color dates, and it doesn't change automatically or highlight today's date.

Excel isn't a calendar. You need to use Outlook or some other PIM.
