I'd be interested to know what others regard as their "must have software"

Personally I would be stuuffed without -

Photoshop (CS3) - Levels, curves, chanel mixer, re-sizing and "painting with light"

Lightroom - Image management, RAW developer, library control, pre-sets and catalogue back-ups.

Capture One - Colour, tonal and saturation corrections. Very fast.

PK sharpener - The only sharpener worth looking at!

Photokit colour - Magic software providing every nuance of colour control and amendment.

Neat Image - Excellent noiseware especially if pre-sets are downloaded from the website

PT lens - Absolutely indispensible for lens distortion. Vertical, horizontal, barrel, pin cushion, CA etc.

Out of interest, how much did all that set you back??

CS3 - 400 baht :o

Lightroom - 400 baht :D

Capture One $200 OEM

PK Sharpener and Photokit (same Company) $200 OEM

Neat Image - $60 OEM

PT Lens $15 OEM

All in all less than $500 - and worth every penny (or baht) (it would have been cheaper but you know Mac software is an arm and a leg eh! :D

You are missing:

Alien Skin Exposure (for BW conversion), IView Media Pro (archiving, image management), Photomatix Pro (HDR)

IView Media looks interesting - thanks for that.

I've tried Photomatix Pro (in fact still have it on my windows machine) - I just can't seem to get on with it! I've seen amazing images from some real clever guys with this software but they (of course) never share the workflow. Do you have any tips you could pass on?

I use Photokit, Photocolour and my own pre-sets for B&W which I'm quite pleased with.

Thanks for sharing (I was beginning to think I was the only one using software :o )

I thought Photoshop was more like $400, not 400 baht??

We cannot advocate the use of pirate sw in this forum.

I always read your Photography posts with great interest but I'm not an expert and am reluctant to advertise my ignorance unnecessarily. Just for the record though, I like Elements (now 6) for everyday fixes - as you will know, it can handle RAW now.

Keep up the good work even if you aren't inundated with replies!

( Presume you have lots of action shots from Anfield. Wouldn't mind seeing some even if your choice of club is a bit dubious.

And while I'm being critical, you wouldn't consider changing your avatar? Reminds me of my daughter in her difficult teenage years and of why I am prematurely bald!)

Wish I did have shots from "The Holy Ground" - alas it is not to be.

I always wondered if that girl had parents :o

Photo Camel has a Tutorial and Video Tutorial in their pinned section. :o

Hope this helps.

I have had ACDSee 5 for a long time. Came with me IBM laptop and soon will be using ACDsee Pro2.5. I have the Photomatix Pro now, so should I be able to get some good shot in, will post them.

Yours truly

Kan Win :D
