I have had 2 avatars "pulled" by Mods in the last week.

Frankly, neither were offensive - particularly when compared to some of the offensive posts I have seen on this forum.

The first one was deleted on the grounds of being "lewd" when, in my view, it was barely titilating.

The second was simply a clip of that well-known Salvation Army ladies singing group - Girls Aloud.

I have no issue with the humerous way Astra went about the second deletion and, indeed, Maestro was very courteous with his PM explaining the removal of the first.

However, I am now feeling slightly victimised and contemplated a "Bring back Chaimai's avatar" topic. I have also looked at forum rules and can see nothing explicit about avatars and therefore conclude that deletion is purely subjective decision.

I would welcome the opinion of other members, and Mods, on this.

I think there is a rule about discussing moderation issues :o

jd - I don't see it as questioning moderation, simply seeking the views of members/mods on what may or may not be acceptable. :D

16) We ask all members to use discretion when selecting a custom avatar. Questionable avatars may be removed by forum mods or admin.

6) You agree not to post any copyrighted material.

5) Discussion of moderation issues, actions or moderation policies concerning individual cases are not allowed in the forums. Such comments should be directed to a moderator or administrator, and not discussed on the forum.

1) You will not use thaivisa.com to post any material which is knowingly or can be reasonably construed as false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, referencing prostitution (including bargirls and barboys), referencing suicide, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law.

any or all of these could be issues in this case I would guess :o

JD posted the primary rule under this > 16) We ask all members to use discretion when selecting a custom avatar. Questionable avatars may be removed by forum mods or admin. But the subsequent rules can have an effect on the decision. TV has a wide audience and as such needs to keep reasonably within family oriented guidelines. Avatar's are not usually immediately decided that removal is necessary but brought up in the mods forum for discussion and see what the consensus is.

You aren't being singled out Chaimai except that when an avatar removal has been requested checks of the replacements will be made. However the fact of bringing up a moderator's decision regarding the removal of your avatar(s) has already crossed over into the rules of discussing moderation action and as such will have to close this. Best to take it up by PM to the mods who took the action if need to be made clearer.

//edit - Maybe a guideline is that if you wouldn't want your kids to see it, it probably isn't appropriate here. :o
