Copying From Recent Wordperfects To Other Apps

A friend bought a beautiful new Acer laptop, great specs etc. Also Vista Home Premium. He's installed MS Word 2003 and (for some reason) WordPerfect (first a recent release, then an uninstall, then version X4). In MS Word he can copy and paste to other apps without a problem. But in WordPerfect he can not copy text and paste it into GMail or MS Word or Notepad. A few beeps and in the X4 version at least a message about an unsupported code page, or something about a code page (which I seem to remember is about fonts) comes up. Anyway, very frustrating. I've done lots of research on the web but can't find others with the same problem. BTW, on his other XP systems the earlier release of WordPerfect did not show these problems.

You might try pasting as unformatted text - [Ctrl+Alt+V]

A couple of updates. 1) the laptop is an HP Pavillion, 2) my friend read the help file, went through a bunch of WordPerfect "Convert" menu choices and voila, no problems now. Thanks.
