Xperia X1 Sony Ericsson

Featured Replies

Thailand is supposed to be on the firs roster of countries in Asia for the launch of XPERIA X1 Sony Ericsson.

Does anyone know what date that will be?

I want to get that phone as well, but I think it will take some time before it comes here, its just been released 2 weeks ago in some Eu countries...

I went to Singapore twice last month and at first they said November, then December.

The wait time is ridiculous. Maybe by the time they release it, HTC Touch Pro HD would be out, too.

I am just curious to try X1 out hands on and the same goes for Touch HD.

But barring one of them totally blowing me away i will not buy any of them since i am quite happy with the one i have already.

I have been following these on Engadget, they had an Xperia X1 video just today (look for it). It looks pretty unimpressive to me. There's touch, but it's still OLD WinMobile underneath and you can see that clearly. A menu with tiny text pops up at one point, and it seems controlled largely by the nav keys. Where you can see the touch screen in action, it looks jerky and unresponsive. Of course it could be that this is a pre-release version or something, but I had some flashbacks to my P990i which was the worst phone I have ever had. Is Sony-E capable of putting some real crap out there in their high end phones? You bet!!

There also was a review and video of the Touch HD recently, and that looks really good. It seems to hide WinMobile as well as can be expected, it has a giant screen too. The only issue is that it's a huge beast.

My impression from these videos was that the XPERIA is an poor iPhone clone in a pretty SE shell, whereas the Touch HD looks like it might finally provide some competition.
