i am an ex-pat and a fluent speaker of burmese. i have worked as a translator for refugees in my home country, but so far haven't been to any of the refugee camps here in thailand. i have lived in myanmar for many years, and studied the language religiously for the past 10 years. i also have a phd in communications, and have published material about burma. my thai is so so.

just wondering what the chances were of getting a job with an ngo if, say, i arrived in mae sot. my burmese friends say my chances are very good, but then they are always very supportive no matter what :D

does anyone know anyone i can talk to about working in this area? i would appreciate finding a burmese-speaking person to chat to too. pm me for a chat :o
