Hi,

On the way to work this morning I saw a blueish/green old model Volvo smashed into a telegraph/electricty pole outside Major Ekamai. There is loads of police and at least 100 people gathered around the scene.

I called a friend of mine who works next to Major to see if he knew anything, he said that his Thai colleauges are saying the the driver was farang and that he was shot hence causing him to crash!! I haven't got any definate evidence of this though...

Does anyone know any more about this? If the rumours are correct then this is pretty worrying...

Just heard from another source: apparenlty the victim was an elderly Indian gentleman. Shot from the driver's side window...

Someones not been paying their bills on time.......

so, you've ruled out suicide then.... :o

For the moment yes, how would he drive the car blindfolded with a plastic bag over his head and arms tied behind his back?!?.... :D

Well a few months ago my friend got shot in a drive by shooting in BKK.

Lucky for him he was hit in the shoulder with a 9mm so he survived.

No money issues or any criminal activity but something you read about very often here in the LOS.

Be carefull outhere, I have heard those hitman can be hired for as litlle as 10.000 THB.

Seriously?! What was the motive then? Road rage? or just completely random?

link or it didnt happen

Thanks for the input mate.

As you can see from my OP, I saw the car piled into the side of the road this morning, so yeah it did happen.

As for whether the driver was shot, I have no evidence or links for this, hence my OP asking for any further information.

Well I cannot provide a link as it was never reported in the paper.

I do have a picture of his shoulder after the operation but will not post it here.

The motive was greed.

And LIR, you keep dreaming in wonderland, that is what my friend used to do untill he got shot.

These things happen very often here and many times the result is another dead person that tried to have a happy life here.

Remember the girl that got her arm slashed off by some police guy?

The pensioner that was killed by BF of his wife?

The guy that was shot by an ex CIA agent?

Just follow some of the news articles here on TV, there are plenty of these kind of things.

A Thai lady friend of me could also first not believe it untill I send her some links to articles here on TV.

Funny, I asked some Thai staff to do a quick search on the Thai newspaper sites, now unless they are blind (possible), there is no official news of this happening. :o

So what you're basically saying is that people who live under the assumption that they won't be shot or decapitated at some point quite soon are living in some kind of 'crazy world of make-believe?'

These are reported cases and published in the papers for the last half year.

Not drive by shootings but killings indeed.

Most of these things where people get shot, slashed or whatever will not make it to the papers unless it makes some good photo material.

Just look at any Thai newspaper and you will find pictures of dead people every single day on the front page.

Why some people deny these fact's ?

My point is that your life is cheap.

If you have bought a house and car and stuff and got a life insurance to cover all of that in your wifes name, please be carefull.

It was on Thai news. Wife said the victim (she thinks he was Thai) was on his way to a court hearing in Rayong about some argument involving his factory. Shot dead by the passenger on a motorbike.

A bloke is murdered in broad daylight at Ekamai and it's of no interest to the 2 English dailies.

Amazing Thailand :o

Amazing Thailand indeed. They don't want to scare off the tourists (the few still coming into Bangkok. Apparently Phuket is busy).

Once I was having dinner with a Thai friend, and her phone rang. This was back when I didn't understand much Thai. Conversation ended, and she summarized it as "oh, my friend just killed his girlfriend and her lover because he caught them in bed. But it's okay, he will pay the police." Took a while for that to sink in, but I'm still here... wasn't there a thread about "you've been in thailand too long when..." ???

How was the motive greed if it was not a money issue?

Aha, so it must have been an expensive 10,000b job. Two people on the bike. That rules out "The Motorcycle Man from Pechabun" then.

Urban legend has it that he is the best and cheapest in the business, simply because he is left handed with the gun. Rides, shoots and leaves at speed - all alone. Only 7,000b per hit at the last rumour.

Oh, if ONLY I had his phone number................

I would have thought a hit man of merit would be ambidextrous and have a throttle control on his twist grip to maintain throttle RPM at any given time , a-la cruise control .

Did you know that it is more expensive to order a hit on a farang.

More than 2x the price.
