Annual One Year ( Reitirement) Visa

Featured Replies

My annual visa renewal date falls in late december wehn the Jonteim immigration is extremely busy.

I usually renew a cuople of weeks earlier but it is still busy at that date.

I have heard that you are allowed to renew your retirement visa ( one year) up to 90 days before.

Has anyone tried this at Jontiem, if so where there any problems like being told to come back later etc,

Cheers

You are able to apply for your annual extension within the last 30 days.

Sometimes they will let you apply a little early if you have to travel.

A few days ago I noticed a front page item in the one of the local Pattaya rags (I forget which one) It was a report from Pattaya immigration which said quite clearly that those on retirement extensions should be sure to not wait until the very last minute to extend (in case there is a problem that can be cleared up) and are encouraged to extend a month or TWO before! That caught my eye for sure because I had always thought 30 days was the limit unless you have a good reason, such as an air ticket out. BTW, the same article mentioned there are TWENTY THOUSAND geeza veezers living in the Pattaya area on retirement extensions, the vast majority of them male.

I just did my extension of stay for retirement today (21 Oct) which was 6 weeks early. No problem at all and no comment by immigration. This was at the Jomtien office

I noticed that, too, Jingthing, but I can't find a link to the article on the Pattaya Today website. No matter, I've scanned it (or at least the relevant bit of it on the front page). It definitely says a month or two before, with no penalty.
