I would like to move to Thailand. However, I have no job or any intention to get one. I make a living trading forex from home. I wonder if there is any way I can live in Thailand with my 4 cats.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

tourist visa will suit your case as long as you don't get caught by labour departement/police officiers for illegally working in thailand.

If you have no bank account in Thailand and use your computer and internet for forex trading as a hobby, I cannot se any illegal kind of crime against the laws, trading currencies in a professional way can be another point of view but to use nit as a hobby it seems no problem but the best id you keep quiet about it.

There are many other crimes that can be used by internet and i will not tell any examples in this board but dont forget that almost no one are anonymous at the internet.

BTW many ppl use to try this kind of hobby but most of them cannot make any big income in this kind of "work"

You can get a 60 day 2 or 3 entry tourist visa that can be extended for 30 days at immigration and after that you leave the country and return (border run) for another 60 days (using another entry). If visa is valid for 6 months a 3 entry can get you almost 9 months without getting a new visa. After your visa expires you can then go to Vientiane Laos and get a new 2 entry visa.

If you are over 50 you can get a non immigrant O multiple entry visa (valid for one year) and make a border run every 90 days. Also if over 50 if you can meet the 65,000 baht income income or 800K baht in bank requirement you can get a 1 year extension for retirement.

Also some consulates will issue a multiple entry non immigrant O visa to visit friends.

I won't comment on the other part of your post.

The cats I can't help you with.

Forex trading is definitely legal, moral and ethical. To me, it isn't a hobby - It's a nice way to earn money if you do it right.

Without wishing to resurrect this old chestnut again, actual Forex trading is not illegal per se, but working without a WP is illegal, as other posters have suggested best to keep quite about what you are doing, as technically you are working illegally per the Thai laws as they stand.

Just call yourself an active investor and your good to go. You will be subject to regulation in whatever jurisdiction your bank is located and where you pay taxes. Unless your a tax paying Thai citizen/resident or using a Thai broker or bank then it's not anything they are regulating.

Good luck PIP hunting :-)
