Praise For A Local Doctor

Wellington

Recommended Posts

We have been going to the small surgery of Dr Chusak, in Kata Centre, since 1996.

He is a man with a heart overflowing with the milk of human kindness.

He charges almost wholesale prices for his medicins.

He charges next to nothing for advice, sometimes nothing.

And unless you have a major problem needing hospital treatment

we can wholeheartedly recommend this lovely man.

I too have been to see the good doctor on a couple of occasions in my time here and my wife also regularly attends his clinic. I can whole heartedly agree with the sentiment of the OP. He is a compassionate and caring individual who has taken excellent care of us both and as mentioned charges very little for his services. I would have no problem recommending him to anyone. He has an excellent manner and is also a very interesting individual to talk to.

It is refreshing to read a positive post, when so often us ex-pats seem to focus on the negatives of life in here in Thailand.

My friend was having very bad stomach pains. He thought he would need major medical treatment. I told him FiRst go to Dr. Chusak! Sure enough Dr. Chusak sorted him right out.

During this time he also went to PIH and had a very negative experience with the Doctor there.

If Dr. Chusak thinks you need to see a specialist he will let you know.

For me I can't agree more with the above posters!!! His English is great and unlike MANY doctors in Thailand he will give you a full explanation!!!!

Its next to Frog club (or nearly) in Kata Center. He is even open half day on sun i think.

I agree, for a local easy access Dr., Chusak is great.

I had a bit of a surfing accident in 2002, lower part of my leg seperated at my knee and popped back into place. Thought I was o.k. until I awoke that night with my knee the size of a grapefruit.

Next day Dr. Chusak saw me gimp in. I sat down in his office, and he leaned over, gripped my knee with his thumb on the inner ligament and squeezed. I hit the <deleted>**kin roof, he was right on what was the torn ligament.

He was right on the money with his diagnosis, he said if it were completely torn I wouldn't be walking, I had a partial tear that would take three to six months to heal up. And indeed about six months later I was good to go.

For those of us unfamiliar with the Kata area, could someone provide some directions? Thanks. Does he see kids?

It's on Taina (??) Road, that's the road from traffic lights (at PTT gas station) to Kata Corner/road to the beach. From lights its about 150m on the right side. Opposite the Coffee Pot, next to the Anchor Bar.

Ooops... and he sees kids.

Dr Chusak's is a great place to get the medical certificate that's needed for a driving license.

As long as you appear to be in reasonably good health to the nurse out front, you'll be on your way in about 30 seconds with the required document. If I recall, the charge is only something like 60-80 baht.

Dr Chusaks number is 076 330115. He is open from 8:00am - 8:00pm everyday except for Sundays. Have to agree with the OP - he is a great Doctor. He has been our Doctor for 15 years and has always been spot on with his treatment and recommendations for surgery etc.

And it's great to know that you can get this good advice without paying the 1000 bht a time to talk to a Dr. at The Bangkok,Phuket Hospital.

This morning I noticed only one guy waiting at Dr Chusak's so I thought it a good idea to check my blood pressure and get a physical examination. I showed him the results of my last annual check at Phuket International as I've always been perplexed at some blood test results, and never had much confidence with the hospital doctor's explanation. Dr Chusak just asked me some questions and what medications I take. Immediately he understood why some of my blood counts were abnormal, and explained in simple language my health situation, and reassured me I had nothing to worry about. Cost ... 150 Baht.

again my same friends daughter had an ear infection... so he went to Phuket Intl. Again he had a horrible experience with the doctor being unexperienced, shakey and nervous. The doctor probed the ear and put lots of liquids that ran down the face of his daugther and prescribed an antibiotic. Charge 1000 baht.

Knowing that you are not supposed to put anything in the ear he went to Dr. Chusak. Dr. Chusak said dont put liquids in the ear and prescribed a more correct anti biotic.

Perhaps we should start a thread about PIH and BH and incompetent stories? I have a few as many people do!

You did not save me any money. I've known Dr Chusak for many many years. I'm just adding to the thread. Best keep you own self congratulations to yourself.

An uncalled for remark.

O.K.-timeout guys.

Definitely not the distance of my "little goat rant" (I hope you guys caught that one), but this has been a good thread about a good local Doc, so lets get back to that. No need for the little petty jabs here, worthless.

Cheers, and everybody have a great weekend, I think we're going to have some sun !! Oops, wrong thread...
