I've been to Vietnam but from Laos. Accquired my visa from the embassy as i dont see how a travel agent could do it any cheaper than the issuing govt. Nobody does anything for nothing - right !

If you're crossing from Cambodia then i would advise hanging on to your bags as if the porters there get hold of it you'll pay both the Cambodians and the Viets for it's return. This cost my mate over $50 so beware.
