Hat Yai To Kuala Perlis Ferry How Long By Taxi ?

Featured Replies

I,m going to Langkawi by flying to Hat Yai then taking taxi to border

then taxi to ferry My flight arrives in Hat YAI at 10.45 am i,m just wondering

how long the journey to the ferry at Kuala Perlis will take and what time i

might arrive in Langkawi also would be grateful if anyone could give me

an idea of what the taxi fares might be for these 2 stages

there is no need to go to kuala perlis to travel to langkawi. from hat yai airport head to the train station, from here you can get a minibus to satun (one hour) and get the ferry from there. you can go through thai immigration at the ferry port at satun and then go through malaysian immigration at langkawi. you can do the same on the return journey. the immigration here is quiet with only people boarding the ferry to langkawi in the queue

i have made this journey a few times. i think the ferry leaves at 1pm (you can check on the internet ferry from satun to langkawi). you should easily make this ferry and the ferry takes less than one hour

Can you take a car on this ferry and do you have do make an insurance for Malaysia?

this is not a car ferry from satun, just foot passengers. the car ferry does go from malaysia but i believe the car ferry travels at night only, also you can not travel with the car, this ferry does not accept passengers.

as for insurance, i don't know the answer to this question as i have never taken a car to langkawi, i rent a car while i am there. cars can be rented from the ferry port or from the airport, the renters are able to haggle and you can sometimes get them down to 50 ringit a day (around 500 baht).

langkawi is a tax free island and i would imagine you would need to take various paperwork for customs and i think the hassle wouldnt be worth it, in fact i am sure that even not many malaysians take their cars over to langkawi.

Taxi from Had Yai to padang basar 40 mins walk through imigration about 300m on the malay side is a taxi cue to Perlis. another 40 mins or so. Very easy, I've done it several times.

Taxi around 300 Bt to boarder then 30 ringit (300 bt) to Perlis. Ferry 1 hr to Langkawi. Not sure how often the ferrys run though. I never spent more than an hr waiting though.
