Us Election Day Countdown Party At Payap University

Hi everyone, I study at Payap University here in Chiang Mai and got an e-mail concerning the upcoming U.S. election and an event hosted by the U.S. Consulate General staff. It seems open to anyone interested and I thought there might be some people interested in attending. For more details read on.

Dear Students, Faculty and Friends of Payap University:

The US Consulate General in Chiang Mai will be hosting a free "US ELECTION DAY COUNTDOWN PARTY" at Payap University (Mae Khao campus) on 5 November 2008 from 10am to 2pm.

The purpose of the Election Day Countdown Party is to provide a space for Chiang Mai area university students and others to observe and understand the 2008 U.S. Presidential Elections by watching election results being announced live via cable television and with on-going commentary by American citizens and US Consulate General staff. The event will include an explanation of the electoral college, a trivia game for students, a poster show on the electoral system, a mock ballot box, bipartisan commentary by American citizens, live election coverage by CNN, and open Q&A throughout. Lunch will also be provided.

Event: Election Day Countdown Party

Venue: Payap University Library, Large Seminar Room (1st floor, next to the ADMISSIONS office)

Time, Date: 10am – 2pm Wednesday, 5 November 2008

Although I'm not an American, I'm very interested, who will be the next president of the United States. Payap sounds very schoolish to me. So I probably rather go, as one poster has sugested, to the Chiang Mai Saloon or U.N. Pub, where I can have a drink, too.
