After leaving my last job I am here on a tourist visa.

My brother in law has been running his own business in the Uk now for about 10 years (design engineer) and now has over 50 staff based in two UK offices.

he has recently got two contracts from the Malaysian government (i lived in malaysia for 3 years and now thailand for 3 years) and he would like me in a business development role in asia, dealing with the malaysian government as well as getting new contracts elsewhere in thailand.

ok now to my question, how would I get a work permit for Thailand? is a work permit needed since the company is not based in thailand? Is there a particular visa that allows me to conduct business in Thailand long term?

thanks in advance for ny help

To work in Thailand you need a Work Permit. Your problem is that your company is not located in Thailand and thus you cannot aply for a WP, as for that the company needs to be in Thailand.
