Ipod Nano Will Not Recharge

Featured Replies

My ipod nano has stopped recharging and so I presume the battery is dead. Will I be able to get a replacement battery in Thailand? How much are these to buy? I was thinking of driving to Bangkok and trying the Mac retailer in Future Park. What do you guys think?

Any ideas????

When I bought my 60GB Ipod, I was told that a new battery would cost THB 3,500 (including replacement).

well first it may not be the battery. Take the software installer and scrub and update the flash OS. After you do that then check if the cable is not the culprit. If you can find another Ipod then use the other cable and ipod and see which one is the problem. My Ipod will not charge sometimes because the jack does not seat properly. Sometimes its because lint gets in the jack or sometimes I need to flex the plug slightly in the jack to get it to charge.

If you do have to buy a battery then I usually get mine on ebay etc in the US and in the range of $10 to $20 for the battery. A lot of the models can be replaced by the user and the battery sellers provide tools and video instructions. Really depends on your model and generation etc about how easy or difficult it is to replace. My classic 5th gen Ipod took me about 30 minutes to replace the first time and now that I know how to do it can repeat in about 10 minutes. I think most if not all of the Nano's have soldered batteries and requires resoldering. In the case of the Nano better to mail off to one of these battery sellers who will replace it and return. If your handy then its doable but not easy for a beginner.

A lot of the battery sellers offer higher capacity batteries which give longer play times but also somewhat longer charge times. If you replace thru apple its a whole lot more expensive.

Do a google for Ipod replacement battery etc and will see dozens of vendors online. www.ipodbatteryfaq.com is a good place to start.
