I was impressed with the Free BYKI software which looks like an excellent tool for learning a foreign language. However I just paid for the ''deluxe'' version and after browsing it for 10 minutes I have found it full of mistakes. And they are (unless I am very much mistaken) very very basic mistakes too! Its unbelievable.

Here are a few examples (and remember I have only looked through it for 10 minutes or so and I am by know means an expert on Thai)

Snow - ตก ( actual meaning 'fall')

Arm - มือ (actual meaning 'hand')

To learn - สอน (actual meaning 'teach')

To taste - ลอง (actual meaning 'try')

Just a warning to anyone planning to use this software. Luckily I know some Thai already so I didnt waste my time learning these wrong words... Its a huge shame becasue the software platform is excellent. I have contacted them regarding this - will be interesting to see what they have to say about it.

BYKI - ไปขี้

BYKI = Before You Know It .. ไปขี้ is the unhappy customer making a joke at their expense.

And yes, my experience in looking at their Thai material is that it's really, er, crappy. Couldn't resist. :o

Thank you for your email.

We appreciate you taking the time to email us your feedback on the errors you found in our Thai BYKI. I’m going to pass them along to our product team so they can look into them. I’m also going to refund your order back in full. If you’d like to keep the product that’s ok. If you happen to find other errors in your time using it, we would appreciate if you can email them to us so we can forward them along as well so we can have them fixed.

Kind Regards,

Customer Service

Transparent Language

Result! can still use the software to create my own learning lists.

I contacted Byki about that when I first bought the software. But since I don't use their vocab (I'm pulling in from Everyday Thai for Beginners), it doesn't matter. For the way I learn, it's one of the best out there.

And from what I've noticed, mistakes in Thai learning material is the norm. I'm not excusing it, just making an observation.
