Name Of My Flower Please

Featured Replies

Can anyone put a name to my plant, at first thought it might be Ricinus but now not so sure, the leaves are identical to a red Japanese Maple, the flowers look like Petunias but in the same colour as the foliage and many of them, there doesn't appear to be any seed pods and it has no scent. Thanks.

It's a "Red shield hibiscus" or "Hibiscus acetocellus". Sometimes called a "false roselle" Because it looks like the 'Hibiscus sabdariffa" used to make an herb tea to reduce blood pressure.

Hope this was helpful,

A great many thanks Meandwi, what would we do without your knowledge of plants.

It looks more like a hollyhock to me. :o

If it is, the stems should be thorny. Flowers last for a day?
