Report To Immigration After Arrival

Featured Replies

I will hopefully arrive in Thailand in january with a 60 day tourist visa. I have read somewhere that you have to report your address after your arrival to either the nearest immigration or police station (normaly done by the hotel you stay with , but this time I will stay at my wife`s house so I guess I`ll have to do it myself). Does anybody know how this is done? Is there a form to fill out or do I just show up at the local police station? Thank`s for any help.

Just being on a tourist visa all you will need to do is put your girlfriends address down on the arrivals card when you arrive at the airport....that is assuming the airport is open by then.

I was under the impression that a private individual hosting an alien was obligated to report that to immigration, just as if you were a hotel. In other words, it isn't the guest's obligation but the hosts.

Assuming this reporting obligation is true, would there be a problem with writing down any random hotel on your arrival card, and then going to the girlfriend. If it ever came up (doubtful) you could say you changed your mind and then there would be no obligation to report.

Jingthing is correct.

You will have reported your wife's address on you arrival card,

that is the end of your responsibility, unless you stay more than 90 days.

Your hosts must report your arrival, either at the closest immingration office, or at the local police station.

See the Thai Immigration Act Section 38

May I offer my sincere apologies to Mr. Hamburger for misreading his OP and referring to his wife as his girlfriend? There was no discourtesy intended. Cheers.

Yes but very few people ever bother to do this.

Hamburger, you as the arriving tourist report your address by writing it on the arrival card, which will be given to you on the plane.

The form for the house owner (your wife) to fill our and submit would be

However, as mentioned, hardly anybody makes this report for a visitor staying at a private residence, but there is no harm in doing it.
