Married Visa

Featured Replies

Hello All please assist me. I am married to a Thai and have one child. Both my wfe and child have a Thai passport and an Australian passport. I only have an Australian one. We have moved back to Thailand. How can I get a permit or Visa to stay here and possibly work at the same time. All assistance appreciated.

You've opened a can of worms here dan. This question has been answered once or twice before. Try a search on the forums. Good luck!

What kind of visa are you now on?

Work you can only with a workpermit. In Thailand for every job you want, you have to go to the labout office with all kind of papers from your employer. The labour office will then decide if you will get a work permit or not, some jobs you are not allowed to work in. A work pemit is only for a specified employer, in a specified function at a specified location. You change employer, you will have to ask for a new work permit.

Penang will give you at least three months providing it is a legit marriage and not one of the money paying things that a lot of falangs do...take the birth cert, marriage licence, copy of house book with wifes name or lease agreement where you are living and copy of wifes card...if you got a Thai bank account with money in it all the better. Check out Banana guest house in Chulia street, they do it all for you....may get a year maybe only 3 months... also Jims place on the same street is great. good luck

What kind of visa are you on now and how much longer is it good for? That would help al lot to know that to answer your question properly.

If you have or get a non immigrant O visa ( or extension ) based upong marriage you can get a work permit after you find a job, form your own company or your wife sets up a business.

If you can meet the requirements of 40,000 baht monthly income or can put 400,000 baht in a Thai bank for 60 day you can extend your permit to stay for 1 year at immigration.

You can extend a permit to stay from the card for 1 year at immigration based upon marriage to a Thai.

You will need to have your marriage certificate translated into Thai and then have the translation certified by the Ministry of Forign Affairs. Plus if your wife has not changed her marritial status with the Thai goverment yet she will need to do that at the Amphoe ( district office). Immigration will want a copy of her house book and ID card those will need to show that she is married.

If you still need to travel after that you can apply for a multiple re-entry permit (3800 baht) or a single for 1000 baht.

If you still need to travel after that you can apply for a multiple re-entry permit (3880 baht) or a single for 1000 baht.

For proof of 40,000 Baht monthly income you need a letter from your Embassy. If the income is from within Thailand you need proof of tax payments.

Or you can put 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank for 2 months before applying. You will need a letter from your bank verifying the balance.
