i'm doing a visa run tomorrow to mae sai (non-imm o visa), and was wondering if i can just leave thailand, turn round and come back in without entering the burma side? i've done this run half a dozen times over the last year or two and have no inclination to wander round tachilek market for half an hour again, or spend 500 baht for the privilege of doing so...

You have to get an entry/departure stamps for Burma or the Thai side won't let you back in.

yeah, i thought that might be the case - saw a guy in the burmese side last time but he just got the stamps i think and hung around outside the office (didn't pay the 500b). thought it was worth asking if i could cut it even shorter.
