kurgen
A short while ago we featured a story regarding a Buddhist Statue at the Banglamung Temple which sparked a PAD protest which demanded the base of the statue be changed. The base was commissioned by the Temple and a local architect was given a brief to feature high-profile Government leaders from the past. The base featured an impression of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and following the protest the image was removed from the base. On Sunday Afternoon we were back at the Temple following reports that the Buddhist Statue had been defaced by someone who threw some form of acid on it, causing some damage. The motive behind the attack is unknown as the previous problems with the PAD had been resolved. There were no witnesses to the attack and Banglamung Police have been informed. 100,000 Baht’s worth of damage has been caused to the Statue.
