December 14, 200817 yr I'm looking to rent a car when I come to Thailand for my holidays next year. I've looked at the larger international companies where rentals start out at 1200-2000 Baht per day. My partner is a Thai national with a full Thai driving licence, and he'll be driving most of the time (he's not an experienced driver but he's Thai and tee-total!). Do any of the larger rental companies have a lower rate for Thai nationals (either because of lower insurance premiums or no tourist markup)? Or are we better looking for smaller Thai-orientated rental companies when we get there? I thought it would be amusing to rent a Bangkok taxi and take it on a road trip, but my boyfriend sadly does not share this sentiment .

Many Car Rental Companies not rent to Thai Citizens, because they affraid that the car get stolen or even spare parts get replaced, or end up in a Cambo Casino.
