Set-up Limited Partnership?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

After having spent a fair amount of time doing a search & trawl of the relevant boards, I'm unable to find information specific to my query... If anyone can provide a little advice, I'd be grateful.

Why do I hear so little about limited partnerships as opposed to ltd companies? I ask this because a local acquaintance had a ltd company for ages but now swears the best thing he ever did was convert to a ltd partnership with his thai wife.

Also, I'm looking to get legal as a freelance dive instructor (work permit, form some kind of company etc....) but don't really want to hire a shop for this since I

don't need one, problem here being I don't suppose an 'office address' which I could rent would suffice in the event that my business address is checked out by the authorities, so what to do about a business address?

A friend has offered to register a partnership at his guesthouse but is worried he might then run into trouble by requiring a TAT license as he would effectively be selling dive courses and trips? Anyone know anything about TAT?

In short, I want to get legal as a freelance dive instructor. Any informed knowledge in this area much appeciated!

Cheers!

p.s I am more than happy to consider using the services of a company to help me achieve my aims. I am based in Phuket if anyone could recommend a company that conducts business here...

The issue of limited parterships was discussed in length in the last messages of the following thread:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=21893

My conclusion from that discussion was that it is generally not recommended due to reasons of unlimited liability and lack of real authority over the business. However, there are exceptions.
