MattFS218
I'm planning on crossing into Thailand on 1 Jan 2009, but want to make sure that the Ubon Ratchatani & Pakxe border will be open for crossing on 1 Jan 2009. My Lao visa only allows me to stay until 1 Jan 2009, so if the border is closed, I will have to pay overstay fees, for not only my visa, but also the car I temporarily imported into Laos. Can anyone confirm that the border is in fact open in 1 Jan 2009. Thanks.
MattFS218
The border I'm referring to is Chong Mek / Vang Tao Edited December 20, 2008 by MattFS218
UbonTaz
Matt, I know that the Lao Imm is closed on weekends but not sure if they close on holidays as well. Maybe good idea to call and find out. You might be able to get an extension before just to be safe.
ubonjoe
Border crossing should be open. I have been there on New Years day for a shopping trip and it was open.
