Possible To Get 3month Tourist Visa In T-land With Only A Passport?

Featured Replies

Ive read through some threads trying to figure this out, but this stuff can give anyone a headache!

i'll be Bangkok last week in jan. then in phuket trying to stay for ~ 3 months

1. All i'll be arriving w/ in terms of documentation is a passport, and a return flight ticket within 30days, (a ticket in which ill obv switch to 2+months later, but idk what else to do bc i guess coming from the usa u need to show them a return flight if u only have passport?)

2.Would it be difficult to get a first time visa in the first few days upon arrival in Bangkok, for 3 month+ stay, or is this not gonna realistically happen b4 the 30 days that a passport allows?

(can't get that double entry visa here in USA in time b4 the flight)

thx! :o

You can not get a visa here.

You will get a 30 day entry on arrival. Then you will have to get a tourist visa at a nearby Thai consulate.

Are sure you don't have enough time to get a tourist visa in the states. Using overnght delivery service you can get a visa in as little as 3 days using a honorary Thai consulate.

As said, you have 4 weeks to get a Visa in USA. Once you arrive you will have to go to a Consulate in a neighbouring country.

For a 3 month stay you may only need a single entry visa.

Why do you find it necessary to write in code?

:o You may not have enough time to get a visa in the U.S. although if you show up with the right documents you could possibly get one in a Thai consulate in the U.S. within 3 days. I know you used to be able to submit the paperwork in Houston at the Thai consulate Tuesday morning, and get the visa Wednesday afternoon, but that may not be possible now. But if you arrive in Thailand without a visa you'll get a 30 day stamp on arrival.

After that you could go from Phuket to Penang or Singapore, pay the fee for a 60 day tourist visa and return. That would give you a 90 day total stay. I believe you could then extend that visa for another 30 days in Thailand by going to the immigration and paying the fee for the extension. That would give you a 4 month total stay.

All you have to do is fill out the forms and pay the fee for the visas.

:D

There is no such thing as a 3 month Tourist Visa.

The best you can do is get a 60 day Tourist Visa before you leave home,

and the extend it for 30 days once you are in Thailand

<<< thought they changed border runs to 15 days???

There is a way to get 90 days, can someone verify. When I bought a 60 day tourist visa back in 2003, I went in on the 30 day stamp in BKK. I made sure they didn't stamp the 60 day one. You can even ask them to paste the 60 day over the next page. At 30 days on Ko Chang, I did a border run and came back on the 60 day one. The Khlong Yai officer did a double take, was programmed to give me a 30 day stamp, but aquiessed and stamped the 60 day.

I cannot remember if it Thorn Tree or Thai Consul in Vancouver that told me this trick.

If it is 15 days now, I suppose you could get a 15 day stamp, then get the 60 day stamped???

You extend it for 30 days at immigration and pay 1900 baht. Border runs are 15 days now.

Some people have reported saving a visa by getting immigration to give them 30 day visa exempt entry.

Most have done it because they had a planned trip out within the 30 days and did no want to waste their visa.

Unless you really like to do border runs there is no reason to it if you are going to stay the full 30 days. And then do a border run for the 60.

HA! At the time, I did not know the 2 visas could be extended by 30 days, each. It would have saved 2 runs to Cambodia, but planned with 2 stays on Ko Chang it was all good.]

Unless things have changed since 2003/2004; you can purchase a maximum of 2, 60 day tourist visas. They print the 2 out as one page, stated with 'No. of Entries "TWO"' You have to show B20,000 for each. [[[$8 per day - plenty good - HA!!!]]]

word of caution - look at the expiry date - don't just think you have 90 [60 + 30]days 0r 180 days [60 +30, 60+30], unless you magically fly out on the same day you get your passport in the mail. They expire 3 months or 6 months, depending if you get the single or double, after the DATE OF ISSUE

If you really want to squeeze the full 6 months, it sounds like a flight to PhonPhen would do it. Enjoy some time there, then get 2 tourist visas and imediately enter Thailand. Check the new Topic that deals with.
