Japan sends out boats to help Thailand search for missing

TOKYO: -- The Japanese government is sending out three boats to help Thai officials search for the people still missing following Sunday’s tidal wave disaster, according to a Japanese news report.

The two naval destroyers and one boat carrying provisions will stop off in Thailand on their way back from supporting US operations in Afghanistan.

The Japanese government has also pledged nearly USD40 million to help the victims of Sunday’s tsunami, which has destroyed much of south and southeast Asia.
