Pregnant And Needing A Good Doctor

Featured Replies

Hi Ladies,

I am currently in Krabi (I normally live in Chiang Mai) and have just found out I'm five weeks pregnant. Sadly I have had five miscarriages in the past and I need to find a good doctor, either in Bangkok or Chiang Mai to get regular scans and advice as time goes on. (I desperately hope I don't lose it this time too)

Can anyone recommend a gynaecologist in either of these cities who is a specialist in early pregnancy problems? It would mean having to have regular scans in hospital too. If not a specialist, then a caring doctor who could help me through these weeks?

best wishes

Dr.Nopadol Saropala.

Bumrungrad hospital, Women's centre. Bangkok

Speciality: OB/GYN.

MD from University of London. UK Board of OB and GYN. MRCOG UK Fellowship

Special Interest: Labor Care. Vaginal birth after Caesarian section.

Go for Dr.Nopadol at Bumrungrad he his very nice and easy to speak to.

We lost a son at birth some years ago before coming to Thailand and our Daughter was born 2 months prem here in Thailand and our Doc was named Dr Rattana at Bangkok Pattaya (she is still there) - she was so wonderful we even included her name in our Daughters middle name.

To cut a long story short, when our daughter came early, it was around 3am in the morning, Dr Rattana had been at a Wedding in BKK that night and was staying there at a hotel.

When she heard what was happening, she drove immediately to Pattaya, organised everything in conjunction with the Aust Embassy and rode in the Ambulance (medivac) to Bummumgrad.

She stayed well into the day (no sleep) to ensure another amazing Doctor, Prof Oridee at Bummungrad had control of the situation - our daughter has just turned 3 and doing well all thanks to these 2 amazing people.

From what I understand, Prof Oridee and her team are the team that looks after the Royal Family.

I'm not even there yet and I just found out I am the same stage as you! I leave for Chang mai in 3 weeks and don't have the foggiest idea as what to do. If you hear anything, please let me know and I will do the same?

Also, do you know of any good insurance providers an american should go through as my insurance with my domestic job will end in 3 weeks as well?

thanks and good luck!

-Alex

Alex, you might try posting in the Insurance section but I think most insurers would not cover an already existing pregnancy, if I were you, I would try to extend my insurance (even if requires payment) with your employer.
