Hi,

2 questions, please advise:

- my 1 year non imm b mult. entry expires on 15-02-2009, if i do a visa run before that date will i still get the 90 days bonus ?

- within the next 3 months (if the answer to my first question is yes) i will have to apply for a new 1 year non imm b mult. entry and i am not able to travel far from Thailand because of low funds. What is the best place in Asia at this moment to apply for my new visa and what are the current requirements ?

(Occupation: managing director for 2Mil.THB Thai registred company with WP)

Thanks in advance !

Not a Bonus, it is the way it works. You have to use your Visa before 15 February. Yes if you enter Thailand on the 14th you will get a 90 day permision to stay.

KL gives you a 1-year Non-B if you have one year validity on your WP.

Thanks, i heard that before but when my lawyer informed with immigration in Suratthani they said they can only extend my WP for another year after i have the new 1 year visa..

Is there maybe something my lawyer/immigration doesn't know of or can anyone advise me how to get a 1 year extension of my WP before obtaining the new visa ?

You can apply for an extension of your WP. The Labour Office will give you a document stating you have appplied for it and you can pick it up after you get your visa.

Ok, thanks for the info..

I made an error earlier, where i wrote immigration in Surratthani i meant the Labour office..

Anyway, do i have to ask my lawyer to get a application form or something from the Labour office ?

It's just so confusing as they stated before that we can really only apply after the new visa has been granted and not before.

Yes, you need to get some forms from the labour office to apply for the WP extension. Your lawyer can do this. When all the documents are ready give it to the labour office and they will give you the statement I mentioned. (Believe it is called the WP-3 receipt). This docuent should be enough to get the visa. Once you get the visa you go back to the labour office and get the actual extension.

Edit:

as Poor Sucker said, the validity of your WP is also important. Have a look on page 5 of your WP and look what it says under work period. That should be one year/12 months. If not have that change at the labour office.

Your lawyer is wrong.

Two of friends of mine was in KL two weeks ago.

Their lawyers told the same BS.

I told them to talk to the lawyers on more time and sure after a call to Labour office they sent the WP's to Surrathanni.

A couple of days later they had a one year stamps in their WP's.

Then it was no problem in KL.

The WP3 is only given first time you apply for WP.

The validity on page 5 only applies for the first year of the WP.

After that you must have a stamp with validity for one more year.

Are we talking about the same thing? When I apply for an extension I always get a reciepe that I have applied and go with that to immigration. I get my permission to stay extended and go back to labour. They check my stamp from immigration and extend my WP for the same period.

Can be different rules at your labour office.

I only get WP3 first time.

Everytime since that a stamp stating one more validity.

I've never quite figured out what this magic stamp on page 5 of the work permit is. Is it really a stamp, or is it the “1 ปี" at the bottom left of page 5?

Thank you, Ubonjoe. So sometimes it is a stamp in Thai (above left), sometimes just a short handwritten note in Thai (above centre), and sometimes a Thai/English stamp (above right)? And they all serve the same purpose, ie extension of the work permit?

I got confused because one time I read in a post that the period of validity of the extension shown in the renewal stamp and the work period shown on page 5 are two different things and that the consulate in Kuala Lumpur needs the minimum 1-year work period on page 5 to give the multiple-entry non-B visa, but I may have got that all wrong.

Hi guys,

It's funny to see my own work permit stamp i uploaded in a previous post some time ago is being recycled here ! (the right side one in red)

Anyway, i have the same issue (still) but after my last posts i did not receive any replies anymore after my last comments and questions unfortunately..

Important for me to know now, will this stamp be enough when i go to KL for a new 1 year multiple non immigrant b or do i need to renew the stamp somehow ?

My lawyer thinks it's sufficient but she is and i'm still not sure as for the date in the stamp..

Difficult to find out what i need to do !

Thanks and please keep me posted !!

Looks the same (the red stamp) as the one i have in my WP, probably same labour office..

Like to know as well if this stamp is ok like this ??

Would save me a lot of hassle with the lawyer and labour office.

The date is what is important. The one in middle has a date that is this year.

The one on the right has a date of May this year which would not work.

To get a visa today it would have to have a date with the year 2553 or 2010.
