Living in thailand for long period of time

Featured Replies

I'm an expat living and working out side Thailand, I'm 36 years old earning 5000USD per month with a saving more than 800000 BAHT. Woud like to settle down in Thailand for at least ten years. my question is how to do that if I won't go for marraige with local or open /operate a busniess in Thailand?  can any body advise me please? thanks in advance

Will you be working in Thailand, or is your income from investments? Note that the LOS authorities will include any .com businesses you operate in LOS (even if hosted externally) as working and will require a relevant visa.

Otherwise you could 'retire' - you don't have to be of pensionable age, but there are age dependant entry qualifications (mostly financial). These are all about to change, and a good write up about it is here:

There is a thread about it here:

Thanks Wolf, I won't be working in Thailand......I will sort of

''retire'' there...although my age is 35!! but I have enough

savings more than 1 mil Baht.....so what is the right way to do it? apprecaite your reply pal

Just get a non immigrant multiple entry visa good for one year. Then do what other ex-pats do and leave Thailand every 90 days.

B1MM is enough money for about a year, maybe two if you are careful. Certainly not enough for 10 years.

Check out all the costs before committing.
