A Canadian property developer died Thursday after being shot outside his condominium in Phuket, Thailand, said a local report.

Francis Alex Degioanni, 34, was shot eight times as he sat in his vehicle outside his home on Patong Beach, said freelance reporter Andrew Drummond from Bangkok.

The Phuket Gazette, an English-language weekly on the beach-fringed southern island, reported on its website that Degioanni was riddled with bullets by two men on a motorcycle.

His girlfriend, Nanthawadee Phenjaroenwatthana, said he received a phone call and told her he had to go out for a short time to take care of some business, the newspaper reported.

When he got into his car, two men pulled up on a motorcycle, opened fire and then fled, she said.

Police said Degioanni had been selling condos to tourists in Patong for the past five years, the Gazette reported.
