How Many Foreigners Living in Thailand
I was specifically addressing the misunderstanding and misuse of the term expat. I am not interested in debating other people's tax status, just how they describe themselves. Note that the term "expat" isn't used to define a person's income tax status in any jurisdiction. I'm not dismissive of anyone's argument or opinion. I'm just clarifying the meaning if the word expat and how it has no bearing with regard to tax. -

AOT confirms facial recognition for international flights
Don't they already take your picture when you enter the country? Anyway, why nit, if it makes for a smoother process at the airport? I've seen this at work in the Seoul Korea airport at the Delta check-in. Look at the camera and your passport picture pops up. -

Oh look! Jack Smith has filed a motion to drop charges against Pres. Elect Donald Trump!
False. Revisionist history. In the fall of 2022, New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a civil suit against Trump, his adult sons, and his former aide Allen Weisselberg, alleging a years-long scheme in which Trump fraudulently reported the value of properties in order to either lower his tax bill or improve the terms of his loans, all with an eye toward inflating his net worth. In another case the charges included willful retention of national-security information, obstruction of justice, withholding of documents, and false statements. Trump took boxes of documents to properties, where they were stored haphazardly, but the indictment centered on his refusal to give them back to the government despite repeated requests. And in yet another case In Fulton County, Georgia, which includes most of Atlanta, District Attorney Fani Willis brought a huge racketeering case against Trump and 18 others, alleging a conspiracy that spread across weeks and states with the aim of stealing the 2020 election. More than any other case, this one attempts to reckon with the full breadth of the assault on democracy following the 2020 election. Shall I go on? -

AOT confirms facial recognition for international flights
AOT published an announcement explaining how the system works and what it simplifies. The facial recognition eliminates 'the need to present a passport or boarding pass at baggage drop, security checks, and boarding.' Immigration will not leverage this new system. The data are solely used only to ensure that the passengers boarding the plane are the ones whose names are printed on the boarding cards and on the airline manifest. This also explains why the data can be deleted after only 48 hours. The benefit in terms of time saving will be greater the higher the number of passengers who use facial recognition.
