Company Moved?

Featured Replies

One of my pals works for a company which has moved premises quite quickly, and has not yet registered their new address with the Ministry of Commerce? that looks after company registrations.

On his work permit, it says he is registered to work at the old address, not the new address, but his boss is saying it is fine for him to work as it is still the same company.

However, I am advising him that not only is it not fine to work as his work permit is the wrong location, but also that the company may be in breach of the law for not registering their new premises prior to moving or at least at the same time.

I guess it is a bit academic as he probably will be fine, but should there be a check, who is going to be right?

As you still have no answer I can only recommend your friend contact the labour office and see what they have to say about this.

He can only work at the location stated in the WP!

The company has to register the new address first and after that change the WP accordingly.

It is illegal to work at any location other than the one(s) listed in the WP!!!!

He'll probably be okay if nobody asks but if they come and check it is the employee who will have to face the music.

DO NOT contact labour until the company move has been registered properly!!!!!!!

So technically any work he does would be illegal, even from home...ok will advise and also see if there is some way to get info from the labour dept as well prior to any time spent working.

thanks ;-)
