Tried this post in the Isaan Forum, no luck as yet.

I am in Chaiyaphum, needing to do a Retirement Extension during the next few days.

ThaLi now seems to be the place to go for the purpose.

Will need to go bus's to do this, I don't see any problem there, but some sketchy detail I've seen in the past states that this ThaLi office has extremely limited resources.

Thus; Would really welcome any info from anyone who may have been there. Is it really a 'limited' office? Can you go inside or do you front to a hole in the wall? Is it reasonably easy to find?

Thanks in anticipation, this is my first extension since the initial change from O visa, so imagine it will be a different experience compared with Korat.

Apologies, I just found some direction info from a question I posted early last month.

But any further info on the office in general would be appreciated. One poster on the Isaan Forum, said that it really is not an inside office, so I'm not quite sure what that means? Can you sit down somewhere and tidy up your application docs etc?

The Immigration office is a proper office in a proper building in the town , its the border check out that is just a window . As with all these small offices there are varying levels of competency , if you are doing a straight forward extension you should have no problem . I have experienced problems at Tha Li before so just make sure you have everything in order then you should be ok .

The office at Tha Li is a proper office in a brick built building , its the border check out/check in that is a window . The level of competency at this office is questionable , i have been give bad and wrong information here in the past so i try to avoid this place , but there were times when everything went ok , so i suggest you make sure you have everything in order when you go there , if its a straight forward extension you should have no problems .

I did my one year extention to my Non O (for retirement) at Tha Li & have been twice since to do my 90 day reporting. From here in Phetchabun it`s a pleasant drive. There is an office where you sit down & in my 3 visits I was the sole customer so it`s quick too. There appears to be only one Immigration officer. He speaks English & is helpful & friendly. If you have all your paperwork in order you should have no trouble. Tha Li is a very small town. The Immigration Office is in the Police/Fire Department complex. It would be impossible to get lost in Tha Li. I think without private transport I would take a taxi from Loei & make him wait. You shouldn`t be very long.

From your post will you be continuing to use Tha Li for your extension and 90 days reporting??.

As of 15th February people who reside in Petchabun province are to use the Nan immigration office.

If you do please let us know as Tha Li is a lot closer than Nan

Only wish I could use Tha Li but my renewal apparently has to be done at Nan since 15th Feb`09. Nan is a 920 km round trip for me.

I may still do my 90 day report at Tha Li unless I feel lazy & use the mail.
