Well I've been in Thailand for the best part of a year and it pains me to have to book a flight back to the UK. Does anyone have any advice on getting a cheap flight back to Manchester? Around 300 quid or so...

Also, does anyone have any tips on holding back the tears when leaving?? What coping methods do people use when the plane touches down in the pouring, freezing rain? How do people cope with not seeing beautiful Thai women on a daily bases?

any advice greatly appreciated

thanks

Oh...and I just realised that there's no such thing as a "one way return"! Ha ha...ignore that bit...that's one too many 100 pipers this afternoon

You may have a one way ticket but it's a return if you are determined enough.

I returned to the UK about the same time of year back in '04 after 12 years in Thailand. I just gritted my teeth and set out determined that this was only a temporary period of exile and, in the famous words, "I shall return". Still not back to LoS full time but I'm in the area and have been through some great places on the way.

Nulli illigitimi carborundum.

That's exactly what I will be saying to myself when I get off the plane, "I shall return! Oh yes, I shall return!"

12 years is a long time! Jeez...I just don't know how the hel_l I'm going to adjust to living back in North Wales...No honda dream to take me down the pub, oh and I've got the current economic crisis to contend with also.

From where I'm sitting now it just seems so bloody grim. When I phone home everyone tells me of how awful it is! "Woolworths has closed! Have you heard? It's terrible it is". "There's no jobs around here! What jobs there are the Poles are taking" etc... Well I shall make the most of whatever is available I guess...can't be that bad...can it?

Dont forget to post again here when the inevitable happens, Hellsbells.

It would be interesting to hear your perspective on current life in the UK.

I'm interested to see what my perspective of UK life will be as well. I'm sure it will be the same perspective that was the catalyst for me leaving the country in the first place :o
